Child Safe Declaration

Malvern Valley CC is a child-safe organisation, and has signed a declaration saying so.

Malvern Valley CC has no juniors on the field this season, but the child-safe framework is already in place. It applies to any young player at training or on a match day, and it is a condition of any junior programme the club builds.

    We adopt the game's own policies

    The club's declaration endorses and adopts five of them by name: Australian Cricket's Policy for Safeguarding Children and Young People, its “Looking After Our Kids” Code of Behaviour, and its Commitment to Safeguarding Children and Young People, together with Cricket Victoria's Member Protection Policy and its Reporting and Complaints Policy.

    One role, both jobs

    That declaration gives a single role both jobs: Child Safety Officer and Complaints Manager. A concern goes to that role, not to the committee at large.

    Nobody under eighteen drinks here

    The club's code of conduct rules out alcohol for players under 18 at club functions, training and match days and nights included, other than where a parent is present.

  • 04

    Vilification is chased both ways

    Racial or religious vilification goes to the association whether one of our players is the target or the one who said it. The code's own words: “Under no circumstances will the club tolerate such behaviour.”
