Train with us
We train at Basil Reserve on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from about 6pm to 8pm. Thursday is our main session every week, and the night most of the club usually turns up.
Questions everyone asks first
Tap oneNot to start. Since the association made helmets compulsory in 2019, we have kept helmets on hand at games and training for anyone without one. Bring runners and a hat, and ask us what else we can lend.
Then say so when you reach out, and we will point you at the right XI. Experienced pro, backyard legend or complete beginner, we have always wanted all three.
Our committee sets the senior fee for each season. Ask us for this season's figure, and about paying it in instalments if that helps.
Seniors play one-day games on Saturday afternoons, first ball at 12:30pm. Training is on two weeknights, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from about 6pm to 8pm at Basil Reserve. Thursday is the main session.
Please do. The Match Centre shows which Saturdays each XI is home at Basil Reserve. First ball is 12:30pm. Stay for a drink after stumps.

1st XI win the Shaw Shield
“It’s been a few years in the making,” the club wrote on 15 March 2020. Matt Pryor captained the side that took the Eastern Cricket Association premiership, with Nathaniel Symes, Luke Cleave and Ben Ryan among the twelve.

Two coaches, both off a national title
Rohan Best came in as head coach for 2017/18 with Alex Kerr as his assistant, both straight from winning the National Indigenous Cricket Championships with Victoria. Kerr held the inaugural Lord’s Taverners Australia indigenous scholarship.

Pink Stumps Day raised $1,103.70
A pink afternoon in February 2017: barbecue, afternoon tea, face painting, a raffle, and a Captain’s XI against a President’s XI that the club’s own report says the Captains won “in controversial circumstances”. All of it for the McGrath Foundation.

Our history
Three names,
one club
St James merged with Malvern Valley, which had been St Andrews East Malvern, in 1995, and the two took the field together from 1995/96. We now play at Basil Reserve, and every career record we keep starts at that merger.
